11 Röhren der überdimensionalen Panflöte mitten im Wald

Röhrophone

2005, Klassik-Edition, Kay Rauber (CH)

The oversized pan flute is an accidental discovery made by the Swiss percussion group Bubble Beatz. While searching for new instruments, they knocked on a sewer pipe at the roadside. The fascination for this sound led to the creation of the Röhrophone with 11 different tones.

A flip-flop is used to strike the open end of the tube, causing the air column inside the tube to vibrate. A tone is produced. The length of the tube determines the pitch: the shorter the tube, the higher the tone.
